Bob Pritchard

Bob Pritchard writes acoustic, electroacoustic, and interactive works, often combining Modernist and post-Modernist influences through quotation, reference, and stylistic juxtaposition. His works are performed and broadcast in North America and abroad, and he has received numerous commissions from The Canada Council, The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, The Ontario Arts Council, and The British Columbia Cultural Fund. He now teaches in the UBC School of Music, and is involved in interactive performance research with the UBC Institute for Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems (ICICS) and the Media And Graphics Interdisciplinary Centre (MAGIC). He is the recipient of a three-year Artist-Researcher grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada, for work in interactive speech synthesis and performance. Together with Saxophonist Julia Nolan, composer Bob Pritchard will perform and present on his interactive concert piece Strength. Recently honoured with the Award of Merit from the Canadian Society of Cinematographers 2007.
